AI Coach
A personalized AI study coach that builds a behavioral profile from your journal entries and trade history — surfacing observations about your patterns, biases, and blind spots rather than generic responses. The Coach can summarize recorded outcomes by session, rules, and time period; its analysis is informational and not financial advice.

What Makes the AI Coach Different
Most AI trading tools answer generic market questions. The Hanzo AI Coach is different in one fundamental way: it knows you. Before answering any question, it loads your AI Trading Brain — a persistent behavioral profile built from your journal entries, coaching session history, onboarding answers, and trade performance data.
When you ask 'Why do I keep losing on Friday?', the coach doesn't give you a generic answer about Friday volatility. It checks your actual journal entries from Friday, identifies your specific behavioral patterns on that day, and gives you a data-driven answer about your behavior — not a market generalization.
The AI Trading Brain
The AI Trading Brain is the persistent memory layer that powers the coach. It is a continuously updated profile that stores:
- Your recorded outcomes broken down by pair, session, day of week, and timeframe
- Your most common rule violations (identified from journal entries)
- Your emotional state patterns — when you trade impulsively vs. patiently
- Your position sizing behavior — when you oversize relative to your stated rules
- Your psychological response to drawdown — how many trades you take after a loss
- Your best and worst trading windows, based on your actual logged history
The Brain updates automatically every time you add a journal entry. More complete notes give the coach more context, but generated observations remain limited by the data you provide and are not a substitute for professional advice.
Running a Coaching Session
A session is a conversation with the AI Coach. Sessions are context-aware — the coach starts each one by loading your latest Trading Brain snapshot. You don't need to explain your history; just ask your question.
- Navigate to AI Coach
Click 'AI Coach' in the sidebar. Your Trading Brain summary loads automatically — you'll see a brief profile card showing your current stats.
- Review the opening insight
The coach generates a 2–3 sentence opening insight based on your most recent activity. Treat it as a prompt for reflection and check it against your records.
- Ask your question
Type any trading question. Specific questions get better answers than vague ones. 'Why do I revenge trade?' is better than 'How do I improve?'
- Review the response
Responses may summarize your recorded data where relevant. Treat comparisons as descriptions of your journal, not forecasts or recommendations.
- Follow up
Sessions are conversational. Follow up with clarifying questions. Each follow-up maintains the context of the full session.
Questions That Get the Best Answers
The AI Coach can be more specific when you ask questions that reference your behavior:
- "Review my last 10 losing trades and identify the most common pattern"
- "What session do I trade best and why?"
- "I keep closing profitable trades too early — what does my data show?"
- "Compare my performance before and after I started logging trades"
- "What's the single biggest thing I should stop doing based on my journals?"
- "How should I adjust my position sizing rule given my current drawdown streak?"
AI Coach vs Generic AI for Trading
Many traders try to replicate the AI Coach by using generic AI tools directly. This works for general trading education — but fails for the specific use case of behavioral performance coaching, which requires personal data that general AI doesn't have access to.
| Capability | Hanzo AI Coach | Generic AI |
|---|---|---|
| Knows your actual trade history | Yes — reads your full journal on every query | No — you must paste context manually every session |
| Identifies YOUR specific patterns | Yes — 'You revenge trade 73% of the time after Friday losses' | No — gives generic patterns based on training data |
| Tracks behavioral change over time | Yes — compares this week vs last week's behavior | No — each conversation starts from zero |
| Outcome attribution | Yes — summarizes recorded outcomes by session | No — cannot calculate without your actual data |
| Persistent context across sessions | Partial — Trading Brain persists, conversation doesn't | No — full reset each conversation |
| Trading methodology calibration | Yes — calibrated to your stated methodology and rules | No — generic trading knowledge, no rule awareness |
| Privacy | Data stays on Hanzo AI platform | OpenAI may use data for improvement depending on account type |
Session Limits by Access
Session allowances and context depth vary by access path. Free, Elite, and Operator users can review the current allowance in the subscription screen and Profile → AI Usage.
AI Models Used
Standard coaching sessions use a fast Hanzo AI model for speed and cost-efficiency. Deep analysis sessions use an advanced reasoning model with a larger context window for complex multi-factor questions. Responses stream as they are generated.
Frequently asked questions
Is my journal data used to train OpenAI models?
No. Your journal data is sent to OpenAI for inference only, per Replit's enterprise API agreement. It is not used for model training. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Can the AI Coach give me trade signals?
The AI Coach is designed for education and behavioral analysis — not trade recommendations. It can discuss current market structure in the context of your strategies, but it will not tell you to buy or sell a specific asset.
What if the coaching advice seems wrong?
The coach works from your data. If advice seems off, check whether your journal entries accurately reflect your actual trades. Incorrect or sparse journal data produces lower-quality coaching. You can also flag a coaching response with the thumbs-down button to improve future sessions.
How long does it take for the AI Coach to 'know' my trading?
With 5–10 journal entries, the coach has enough data for basic pattern detection. With 20–30 entries, behavioral tendencies become clear. With 50+ entries, the coach can identify subtle context-specific patterns — like 'you trade oversize specifically on the day after a winning streak ends'. The more consistently you journal, the faster and more precise coaching becomes.
Does the AI Coach remember conversations between sessions?
Individual conversation history does not persist between separate sessions (browser tabs/refreshes). However, all insights and behavioral data from coaching sessions are permanently stored in your AI Trading Brain and inform every future session. The context window within a single session is unlimited.
