AI Chart Analysis

Upload any chart screenshot and receive Hanzo AI vision-powered analysis across 5 specialized tabs: general structure analysis, ICT/SMC scan, bull-vs-bear debate mode, setup grading (0–100 with line-by-line reasoning), and annotated drawing generation. This is the fastest way to get a professional second opinion on any setup before placing it — the AI reads your chart the same way an experienced ICT-trained trader would, identifying what you missed in seconds. Most effective for reviewing recent losing trades: submit the chart and ask 'Grade this setup and tell me exactly what I failed to account for.'

What this page covers

  • How to upload charts and what image quality produces the best analysis
  • What each of the 5 analysis tabs does and when to use it
  • How the Grade Setup tab scores your trade setups
  • How Debate Mode helps you stress-test your bias

Uploading Your Chart

  1. Navigate to AI Chart Analysis

Click 'Chart Analysis' in the sidebar under Market Intelligence.

  2. Upload your chart

Click the upload area, drag a chart image file, or paste directly from clipboard (Ctrl+V / Cmd+V works). Supported formats: PNG, JPG, WebP. Maximum file size: 10MB.

  3. Add study context (optional)

Provide the timeframe and explain which historical annotation or concept you want to compare. Do not treat the generated labels as a current setup, entry, or recommendation.

  4. Select your tab

Choose which type of analysis you want before submitting. You can switch tabs and reanalyze the same chart without re-uploading.

  5. Submit and stream

Click Analyze. The response streams in real time — typically 8–15 seconds for full analysis.

The 5 Analysis Tabs

TabBest forWhat the AI does
AnalysisGeneral technical overviewIdentifies trend direction, key support/resistance levels, chart patterns visible, momentum indicators, and overall market structure. Provides a directional bias with reasoning.
ICT/SMC ScanOrder flow methodology tradersScans specifically for: order blocks (OB), fair value gaps (FVG), equal highs/lows, break of structure (BOS), change of character (CHoCH), premium/discount zones, and session liquidity levels.
DebateStress-testing your biasTwo AI agents argue the bull and bear case simultaneously using the chart evidence. A synthesis agent then judges which case is stronger and why. Designed to surface the strongest counterargument to whatever you currently believe.
Grade SetupReviewing a hypothetical scenarioScores a documented scenario 0–100 against a 6-factor rubric and shows which model inputs were rated higher or lower. The score is not an approval.
Draw AnalysisVisual annotationThe AI identifies the 5–7 most important elements on your chart and returns annotated descriptions of each, as if a mentor were pointing at your screen. (Actual drawing overlay requires TradingView publishing.)

Grade Setup Scoring Rubric

The Grade Setup tab scores your proposed trade on 6 dimensions, each worth up to ~17 points:

FactorMax pointsWhat's evaluated
Trend alignment20Is the setup with the HTF trend (strong), neutral (medium), or counter-trend (lower score)?
Reference-level quality20Is the documented level associated with a structural feature or located in an undifferentiated area?
Scenario assumptions20What hypothetical outcome, invalidation, and comparison assumptions are included?
Confluence count20How many independent analytical factors support this setup? 1 = low, 3 = medium, 5+ = maximum.
Session context10Is the scenario timestamp associated with a configured session window?
Assumption clarity10Are the hypothetical conditions and limitations stated clearly?

Daily Chart Review Workflow

Using AI Chart Analysis systematically as part of a daily session routine extracts far more value than ad-hoc use. A structured workflow takes 15–20 minutes and sets context for every decision during the session.

  1. HTF bias chart (Daily)

Export a 3-month Daily chart for each watchlist pair. Submit to Analysis tab with context: 'Provide directional bias and identify the key levels controlling the next 1–2 week range.' Save the output and compare to yesterday's analysis.

  2. Session setup chart (4H)

Export the last 60 bars on the 4H. Submit to ICT/SMC Scan tab. This surfaces any active FVGs, order blocks, and structural levels that price is likely to react to during today's session.

  3. Proposed scenario review (1H)

If you have a hypothetical scenario in mind, export the 1H chart and mark reference levels. Use Grade Setup to document how the model evaluates the example; do not treat the output as permission for paper or live execution.

  4. Pre-session debate (optional)

If you have a strong hypothesis, submit a chart to Debate Mode and read the counterargument. Record overlooked factors, alternate interpretations, and uncertainty rather than changing exposure.

Each tab switch on the same uploaded chart counts as one separate analysis. If you upload a chart and use Analysis, then ICT/SMC Scan, then Debate — that counts as 3 analyses. Plan your tab usage before submitting to get maximum value from each image.

Using Debate Mode Effectively

Debate Mode is designed to break confirmation bias. The most dangerous state in trading is being convinced a setup is perfect — because perfect setups don't exist, and certainty prevents you from managing risk properly.

The bull and bear agents each read the same chart and argue their case independently. The synthesis agent is explicitly instructed to not pick the 'obvious' winner — it identifies the single strongest argument from each side and delivers a verdict on which case has more evidence.

When NOT to Use AI Chart Analysis

AI Chart Analysis is a tool for decision support, not a replacement for your own analysis process. There are specific situations where submitting a chart will produce lower-quality results or where the tool is not the right choice:

SituationWhat to do instead
You haven't done your own analysis firstThe AI's analysis is most valuable when it confirms or challenges your pre-formed view. Submit charts with a stated bias: 'I think this is bullish — what am I missing?' Don't use it as a substitute for developing your own analytical skills.
The chart covers more than 6 months of dataWide-angle charts lose candle resolution. The AI reads pixel data — candles too small to distinguish produce generic analysis. Zoom to 50–80 bars maximum for sharp, specific analysis.
You're in an active trade and looking for reassuranceConfirmation bias can affect interpretation when capital is at risk. Use Debate Mode for retrospective or hypothetical study rather than seeking validation for a live position.
The chart has no indicator contextA plain OHLC chart with no marked levels, indicators, or context produces general analysis. Add your EMA/SMA overlay, any key levels you've marked, and your indicator setup before uploading.
You want to learn the ICT/SMC methodologyUse the ICT/SMC Guide and the Glossary to build foundational knowledge. The scanner can identify concepts but can't teach you why they matter. Learn the 'why' separately, then use the scanner to accelerate the 'where'.

High-Converting Prompt Templates

Adding context to your chart upload dramatically improves analysis quality. These prompt templates are proven to extract maximum value from each analysis slot:

Use casePrompt template
Pre-trade validation'Analyze this [PAIR] [TF] chart. My bias is [BULLISH/BEARISH]. I'm planning to enter at [PRICE] with a stop at [PRICE] and TP at [PRICE]. Grade this setup.'
Post-trade review (loss)'I took a [LONG/SHORT] trade on [PAIR] that was stopped out at [PRICE]. The entry was [PRICE], stop was [PRICE]. What did I miss? What would have told me not to take this trade?'
Session preparation'Identify the key structural levels on this [PAIR] Daily chart that will be relevant during the [London/NY] session today. What is the primary bias and what would invalidate it?'
ICT-specific scan'Run an ICT/SMC scan on this [PAIR] [TF] chart. List all order blocks, FVGs, and structural levels visible. Identify whether price is in a premium or discount zone and what the most likely next institutional move is.'
Debate before high-conviction trade'I am strongly bullish on this [PAIR] setup. Argue the bear case as forcefully as possible using only the chart evidence. I want the strongest counterargument to my current bias.'

Frequently asked questions

What image resolution produces the best analysis?

Export your TradingView chart at 1920×1080 minimum (Retina/2x is ideal). Ensure all labels, levels, and indicator lines are clearly readable. Zoomed-out charts covering multiple months of data produce worse results than a focused 50–80 bar view centered on your area of interest.

Can I analyze charts from platforms other than TradingView?

Yes. The upload accepts any PNG, JPG, or WebP screenshot from any charting platform — MT4, MT5, cTrader, ThinkOrSwim, or any other platform. The AI reads pixel data, not metadata, so source platform doesn't matter. Clear, high-contrast charts produce the best analysis regardless of origin.

How many chart analyses do I get per month?

Chart-analysis limits depend on the current access path. Review the subscription screen and Profile → AI Usage for the applicable allowance and rollover rules.

What's the difference between Analysis and ICT/SMC Scan tabs?

The Analysis tab uses a general technical analysis framework — it looks at trend, support/resistance, momentum, and patterns regardless of methodology. The ICT/SMC Scan uses a specific Smart Money Concepts lens, focusing exclusively on order blocks, FVGs, structure breaks, and liquidity pools. Use ICT/SMC Scan if you trade the SMC methodology; use Analysis for a methodology-agnostic view.

Can I save chart analyses for later review?

Yes. Every analysis is automatically saved to your Chart Analysis history (Profile → Analysis History), stored for 30 days. You can revisit any saved analysis, compare the AI's assessment to what actually happened, and use the comparison for your weekly review journaling practice.
